Sometimes nature finds a way. Just like in Jurassic Park where all the dinosaurs were supposed to be female, they still found a way to make babies.
Well, I was trying to keep Finn and Emma from having puppies this time, but somehow they found a way. The whole time I was there I kept one outside and one inside. My best guess is someone accidentally let them together while I was gone for work.

The real funny thing is I didn’t think she was pregnant for the first month. I kept telling her, “Emma, you’re getting fat!” When she started getting milk I quickly realized something had happened.

It wasn’t planned but things have worked out wonderfully. I was there for the birth of the puppies. Emma was whining all night, so I hardly got any sleep, and then around 4:30 am I heard a puppy cry. We then spent the next 8 hours or so having puppies. I think she had number 8 around noon, so close to 2 I was going to go in town. That’s when something crazy happened.

I had been in my office for maybe 20 minutes and then I came back over. I was all dressed and ready to leave when I heard a puppy crying. At first, I figured it was from the giant pile of puppies. But then I realized it was coming from a different direction. I ran to the back door and I saw a puppy crawling around outside all alone! I quickly ran out and scooped it up and brought it to Emma.

I guess she had gone outside to go to the bathroom or something and had the last one. I am so thankful that I saw the puppy instead of leaving. It was cold that day, and I don’t know if he would have survived. I don’t know if my heart could take that.

Anyway, everything has gone great with the puppies. They are now walking around and playing and showing their personalities. We ended up with 7 boys and 2 girls which is a bit strange. I’m down to three puppies, and I think they will be claimed pretty soon. Then, I get to play with them for another 4 weeks before they go make a bunch of families happy!
